HISTORY

 Foundation

A College of Commerce at the University of California was originally conceived by Arthur Rodgers, a Berkeley graduate and well-traveled businessman in 1883. It took another 15 years for the nation's first college of commerce at a public university, to be born.

Haas is named after former Levi Strauss & Co. President and Chairman Walter A. Haas, Sr., who was a 1910 graduate and lifelong supporter of the Berkeley business school, in 1989.
